Molly Findlay
In a world where immediacy has largely overtaken process, Molly’s unconventional childhood from Berkeley, CA to the moonscape of the Mojave and the Eastern Sierra honed her aesthetic sense and Macguyver skills.
No phone, no television, water trucked in in a waterbed mattress in their van; she spent the bulk of her time developing her imagination deep in the wilderness; rearranging abandoned dwellings, hanggliding, skiing, backpacking, feeding chickens, and making art to the tunes of the 8 track. As a teen, Molly became a slalom racer, albeit a timid one…She studied art and linguistics at UC Santa Cruz and the Beaux Arts in Toulouse.
Molly began her career in New York in downtown theater, where she wrote plays, designed costumes, learned trapeze and performed while living on a tugboat parked at Pier 25 near Stuyvesant High School and working at Yaffa’s tea room. Then on to Harper’s Bazaar, where she produced shoots around the world…and segued from fashion to set design. She loves her metier and has been lucky to work with the most talented photographers and creative teams in the world. Molly has a deep collaborative spirit and a preternatural ability to calmly and effectively solve material problems and source objects. After two years in Bali, she is now based in New York
